The story of Van Arthur, so far.

We believe every bloom tells a story—and ours began in 2015 when a young entrepreneur, Sri Aathavan, set out to build something special. Aged just 22, with a background in wholesale and retail floristry, Sri began his journey by selling flowers from the boot of his car to local florists in London and Essex. This hands-on approach allowed him to quickly grasp the trade, build strong connections with florists and wholesalers, and carve out his place in the floral industry.

Sri, a local from Harrow and a former student of Nower Hill High School, stumbled upon the perfect spot for his venture in North Harrow. The site was once a popular café named "Café Sorento", but had a deeper history—dating back to the 1970s as a florist aptly named "Flower Fayre". Following the closure of the cafe in the early 2010s, the shop had been empty for years, and in 2015, Sri brought it back to life with the name "Special Delivery," a nod to the excitement that flowers bring when delivered to loved ones.

By 2017, the name Van Arthur was born—a creative twist on Sri's own name, "Aathavan." With a nod to the Dutch ("Van") and English ("Arthur") heritage of the flower trade, the new name was a perfect fit for the growing brand. 

The business took a leap in 2018 when Sri opened a second shop in the heart of London's Liverpool Street, expanding Van Arthur’s reach into corporate and contract floristry. Although the Liverpool Street store closed in 2020 just before the pandemic, Van Arthur continues to serve its corporate clients in the area, cementing its place as a trusted name in the heart of London.
