Van Arthur · Our story

A boot full of flowers.
A story rooted in Harrow.

In 2013, Sri began with a car boot full of roses and early mornings at the flower market. The shop came later. The eye for a beautiful stem — and the relationships behind it — came first.

Our story, one chapter at a time

Small beginnings.
Deep roots.

  1. 2013

    A boot full of possibility.

In 2013, the boot of Sri’s car was filled with Dutch buckets of roses in different colours. He sold flowers from that little car, supplying florists across London and Essex. Being first at the market meant the chance to choose the stems he really wanted. Knowing good flowers — and the people who grew and sold them — became the foundation of everything that followed.

  2. 2014

A window. An idea. An offer.

A shop on Station Road caught his eye. Here was a chance to bring that knowledge home to Harrow, and make flowers for the people giving them. An offer went in. The waiting began.

  3. Jan–Feb 2015

The keys, then the first customers.

The keys arrived in January. By February, the doors were open. An empty shop became a place full of flowers, conversations and the beginnings of relationships that would last for years.

  4. 2017

A little Harrow spirit in the City.

We opened our Liverpool Street shop, bringing our flowers to the rhythm of working London. A different pace, the same care at the bench.

  5. 2018

Another way to say it with flowers.

Our new website launched. Customers could send a little piece of Van Arthur without stepping through the shop door — whether they were around the corner or much further away.

  6. 2019

One chapter closed. Our roots stayed strong.

Liverpool Street closed for redevelopment. North Harrow remained our home, and the relationships we had built travelled with us.

  7. 2020

When flowers meant more than ever.

Lockdown changed everyday life. We kept helping local customers send flowers when being there in person was no longer possible. A bouquet became a way to say “I’m thinking of you”, “I miss you”, or simply “I’m here”.

  8. Today

Still choosing with the same care.

More than a decade after opening our doors, we are still an independent Harrow florist. The occasions change. The people come back. And every day begins with the same question: which flowers would we be proud to send?

From the market to your moment

The care you can see.
And the work you don’t.

01

We choose the flowers.

We source through trusted relationships across Ecuador, Colombia, Holland and the UK. We look for freshness, character and that particular colour or texture that makes a bouquet come alive.

02

We give them our time.

Stems are checked, prepared and cared for before they reach the bench. Lilies often leave us in bud, with their best still to come. Beautiful flowers deserve a thoughtful beginning.

03

We make it personal.

Our florists compose and spiral hand-tie each bouquet. Your message goes into a sealed envelope; your flowers leave in signature packaging with water in the base, flower food and care instructions.

For when it matters, choose Van Arthur.

Tell us who
they’re for.

A big birthday. A quiet thank-you. A favourite flower with a story of its own. We’ll listen, offer advice and help you make the gesture feel right.
